The Story Behind Phoenix
Q. Brown
The author, Phoenix Q. Brown, is the mother of 3 and has helped raise many other children as well. Phoenix was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Due to starting a family early, Phoenix placed college on hold because she believed that family was important and that providing stability was the ultimate goal in raising a child. Later in life, Phoenix returned to school.
The author has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and currently serves as a Clinical Mental and Behavioral Health Therapist. She is a high-energy, self-motivated individual with great compassion for others especially the youth. She frequently engages in social action projects and community-based initiatives that promote improving the community and well-being of others.

Phoenix Q. Brown obtained her Associate's Degree, specializing in mental health, from Oakland Community College. She then continued her education to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Generalist Practice Social Work at Marygrove College. The Author then furthered her education at Wayne State University, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Family Systems Theory.
Phoenix’s life was complicated by many traumas, and through it all, she easily forgave and was able to still show empathy to those who did not have her best interest. She has always had a passion for working with all people in a capacity of healing and helping to maintain their well-being, especially the deprived, underprivileged youths and those affected by social injustices.
Her journey began at a young age by giving back, taking care of others and nurturing those who have been hurt. This passion ultimately motivated the author to do a lot of background work in supporting various groups and organizations that mirror the same values and beliefs.
Phoenix is a lover of nature, music, and great food. She enjoys reading, fellowshipping, and laughing out loud (as long as she can). She is also a lover of poetry, occasionally writing poetry, and absolutely loves inspirational and encouraging quotes that are metaphorically tuned to life lessons. Phoenix’s view of life is a continuous journey of learning and personal growth.
The author also currently serves as a Board Member on Wayne State University’s Social Work Alumni Board and the T- ROSE Foundation. She is also a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Beta Omicron Zeta Detroit Chapter.
